Dr.
Ajay Taware, head of the hospital's Forensic Medicine department, Dr. Shrihari
Halnor, the chief medical officer, and Atul Ghatkamble, a hospital staffer
under Dr. Taware, were taken into custody until May 30.
How
Did the Blood Samples Get Altered?
-
The minor's blood sample was initially taken to Sassoon General Hospital on May
19 at 11 am.
-
The accused's father contacted Dr. Ajay Taware for assistance.
-
Dr. Srihari Halnore, at Ajay Taware's request, allegedly swapped the samples,
sending the second person's blood sample to the forensic lab.
-
Sassoon's doctor reported that the juvenile accused had not consumed alcohol.
-
Subsequently, the police obtained another blood sample from the accused for DNA
testing at a different government hospital.
-
The second blood sample, taken subsequently, matched both the minor accused and
the father's blood samples.
-
However, the blood sample from Sassoon did not align with that of the accused.
-
Subsequent police interrogation revealed the doctor's admission to altering the
blood sample.
